The Milking Parlour
The Milking Parlour is a small agricultural building in West Berkshire that had fallen out of use. Rather than converting it into something fixed, the aim was to adapt it lightly - creating a space that could evolve and be used in different ways over time. The existing structure was retained wherever possible, with new openings introduced sparingly to bring in light while preserving the building’s scale and character. Material choices were guided by the site itself, including a clay render made using soil from the surrounding land. Today the space is used for everything from yoga classes to gatherings and photoshoots, its value lying in its adaptability and quiet simplicity.
